About Pugs

This breed is so wonderful and humorous . They love people, and most of all they love kids. They do have some health and personality considerations that do not work with every one's lifestyle.

Most important when researching if a Pug is the right breed for your family is to remember they are a small breed dog, hence are not a dog that can be housed outside or take the rough housing that a Labrador or German Shepherd can.

Due to the lack of muzzle, they are prone to eye injuries. We have  eye CERF(http://www.vmdb.org/cerf.html) done on our breeding dogs, to insure that they do not have any genetic eye problems.

Pugs are also a very stubborn breed, being so head strong can make them hard to housebreak. We have found that people who live in apartments have a much easier time using Doggy litter boxes that you can now purchase from any pet supply store.

Pugs Shed... yes shed a lot... It can be easier to handle with regular grooming, but they are a double coated dog, hence due shed all year around. We recommend purchasing some of the hair rollers and a lot of outfits that match your dogs hair...

Pugs snort and sneeze... This is part of the charm of this breed. They talk to you via snorting. Any pug owner will tell you that their pug can express their feelings with a good snort or two. Sneezing is something you get used too, they love to mess up car windows and computer screens  with pug snot.. and love people with glasses...

Ohhh Please remember all those cute rolls on the pug's face need cleaning. Some very heavy rolls may need daily cleaning to prevent infections and bad smells.

Pugs can be hard to breed, hence we do not recommend anyone consider breeding their pug without consulting with someone who has tons of experience breeding these dogs. Due to the small size and large heads, they can have complications. Just because your pug has AKC papers does not mean it should be bred.  Responsible breeding means taking into consideration the genetic problems in your dogs pedigree, and in the dog /bitch you are mating it with, and trying to breed a better dog each generations. Genetic Testing of Health problems such as hips, elbows, eyes ect. Nobody wants to sell a puppy that ends up needing thousands of dollars in vet bills, because the breeder didn't do health testing of the adults. It can ruin a family financially, and can devastate a breeders reputation.

As much as we would love to see every puppy we produce, show in the ring... it is not possible. Not every puppy meets the standard.  We produce 1-2 litters a year max... sometimes we have 1 litter in 3 year period.  Most of these pups will be placed in Pet homes. We keep pups that are prospective show dogs for further evaluation. If you are interested in showing please contact us. If you are interested in a pug pup that was raised with love under foot, and comes with a health guarantee, great pedigrees, and lifetime of support please fill out our questionnaire and we will contact you.
